Insomnia? Massage Can Help

Posted: 12 May 2020 07:50 PM PDT

What Is Insomnia?

Insomnia is a condition in which, for a variety of reasons, a person is unable to get sufficient restorative sleep. It may be difficult for a you to fall asleep or sleep may be interrupted by bouts of sleeplessness.

Whatever the pattern, it can be debilitating. A constant and consistent sleep schedule is key to a healthy life style.

Who Gets Insomnia?

Insomnia can affect anyone, including children, but studies have been done on adults. Men generally have insomnia more often than women, and people over 65 years old are especially prone to this problem.

Some of the causes of sleeplessness are usually very predictable. The human body goes through many stressors each day. Stress and anxiety and depression are contributors to rest free nights. Some of the signs and symptoms include fatigue, reduced ability to focus on tasks, memory loss and impaired hearing.

How Massage Can Help

Massage is very indicated for a person experiencing insomnia. One of the finest gifts a therapist can give a client is a good night’s sleep.

Massages services such as Swedish, Hydrotherm, and deep tissue can restore balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. Combining massage with heat and aromas, such as lavender, can offset medications and sleep-aids.

Pixie Cut? What Your Should Know

Posted: 12 May 2020 07:33 PM PDT

Pixie cuts seem quick, easy and fun! Before you decide to make this image altering transformation, there are a few things to consider and be mindful of.

While a pixie can make life easier in a lot of different ways, it can also make it more challenging for some. Therefore, it is crucial that you are fully aware and committed to "the new you" before you decide to make the chop.

First Things First

The number one thing I hear when I have prospective pixie client is, "I'm looking for a low maintenance, wash and go haircut."

I'm about to crush your pixie dreams. Absolutely not. That's not how this works. Take it from someone who has short hair and knows first-hand.

When I wake up in the morning, I look like the combination of two things. A teenage boy who got a bad haircut and someone who stuck their finger in an electrical socket.  I look WORSE than my boyfriend in the morning. It's not a cute look.

Styling A Pixie

A pixie cut requires some sort of styling. Unless you're going to throw on a baseball cap and call it a day. That’s my go-to on Sundays! When I say styling, I am not saying you need to get in the shower and wash your hair every day.

However, it does require you to get it wet, put some product in, and re-blow dry. This will likely only take you 10 minutes, but don't think you can get away with simply rolling out of bed.

Salon Visits

I am going to be your new best friend! Be prepared to visit the salon every 4-6 weeks to maintain your new look. You will quickly learn that short hair grows FAST.

While I am a very meticulous cutter and make it a priority to make sure your haircut grows out well, certain areas like the nape, ears, and bangs tend to get shaggy quickly.

I swear, one morning you will wake up and think your hair grew an inch overnight, and you need it cut NOW. This means it is really important that you pre-book your appointment, because trust me, you're going to want it!

Rock Your Pixie!

"Okay, girl!", "I wish I could pull off your haircut!", "Did you ask to get it cut that short?" These are just a few of the laundry list of comments you will be hearing from your own personal peanut gallery! Most will love it; some will hate it. Just remember, any haters are simply jealous.

Be prepared to get stopped anywhere and everywhere to talk about how cute your hair is. It is not uncommon to be walking down the street, shopping in a grocery store, or getting your teeth cleaned at the dentist and for someone to come out of their way to compliment you and ask where you got your hair cut.

I am not writing this to sway you one way or the other, but to simply inform you of life with a pixie. It's great! But certainly not for everyone.

A pixie cut is a great mix of trendy and timeless that can be worn by a variety of ages and face shapes as long as you have the knowledge on how to maintain, style it, and of course a passionate hairstylist that is up for the challenge!
