Hot Tub Covers For Sunny Locations

Posted: 06 May 2020 12:24 PM PDT

Best hot tub covers for the sun

There are a wide variety of hot tub covers for sunny locations that will do the job of keeping contaminates out of the water and protecting your home spa from UV rays at the same time. We all know that the sun is the ultimate source for natural heat and does a good job of warming up the spa water naturally on a hot day. A hot tub cover from Master Spa Parts is an excellent way to keep that heat inside your spa once you're done soaking for the day. Spas that are located in sunny spots such as a yard, on a deck or patio, can still lose heat even if they're located in a bright spot. Not only will a spa cover help to keep your energy costs down, it will also help prevent sun damage to your hot tub.

Placing your hot tub in a premier location at home often times involves picking a spot that includes sunshine. It is a rewarding feeling to step in to a warm hot tub of water and relax among the water jets while sun shines down upon your face. Whether your home spa is in a super sunny location or just a partially sunny one, you'll want to make sure to have a cover to protect your home oasis from the elements.

Master Spa Parts carries an excellent array of hot tub covers specifically designed to fit your model and its needs- much like the Covana Horizon (sold by Master Spas of WI) shown above. Our hot tub covers are made of high-quality materials so they are not only resistant to UV rays and mildew, they also look good placed on top of your home spa. Other options for hot tub covers include:

Smartop Covers: These covers are made of a polymer deck surface that are  UV resistant, odor free, and have a built-in hydraulic system built in. That means it's one of the best hot tub covers you can purchase for sunny locations as it will keep it always looking brand new (plus it has a cover lifter built in!)

Clarity, Down East, Getaway, Healthy Living, Michael Phelps, Legacy, and Twilight Covers:  These Master Spas hot tub and swim spa covers are made of a high-quality marine-grade vinyl covering that is mildew treated and unfazed by UV rays. Meaning, harsh weather elements and sunny days won't severely affect any of these brands of hot tub covers!

Don't forget Cover Lifters, either!

Hot tub covers take much of the brunt from Mother Nature, so its understandable that over time some sun damage to hot tub covers may occur. There are many UV resistant hot tub covers, but that doesn't mean they are damage proof. Daily removal and placement of the hot tub cover can also cause damage to the product if not moved on and off properly.

Master Spa Parts sells a variety of Cover Lifters for hot tubs and swim spas to eliminate the grunt-work of a spa cover. The ease of pushing a button or simply moving a bar in order to uncover your spa will help eclipse the work and fast-track you to relaxation under the sun. Our hydraulic cover lifters are a perfect advancement to your home spa that will help keep your hot tub cover off the ground and within arm's reach.

Additionally - each time you place your cover on your spa, it would be a good idea to take the time to look over your hot tub cover. Sun damage to hot tub covers can happen when they are in a sunny location so be sure to look over the cover material for signs of cracking or splitting. One way to help extend the life of your hot tub cover in a sunny location is regularly wiping the material down with a protective oil product to keep it moisturized and at top performance

Whether you own a soft spa cover or a hard spa cover, sun damage to hot tub covers can happen, so be sure to keep an eye out for signs of wear and tear on the product.

Mother’s Day Gift & Activity Ideas!

Posted: 06 May 2020 02:05 PM PDT

Mother's Day is almost here and normally this time of year we're buying bouquets of flowers, picking out cards, making brunch reservations – all these gestures and more to show our dear moms just how special they are to us.

But let's face it, with stay-at-home orders and many places still closed, it is particularly challenging to plan something special for mom.

Our some of the awesome Neroli moms have put together this list of activity and gift ideas to help make Mother's Day special while stuck at home.

Treat Mom To A Fun Day

Show mom you care with these cute and heartfelt ways to spend time with her, whether you are near or far.

Curbside Brunch

There are a ton of amazing area restaurants offering Mother's Day brunch curbside. Not only does it make it special for mom, but it helps local restaurants that need the extra business. This works great not just for your wife or significant other, but also if your mother lives in town. Check out this great listing of restaurants offering Mother's Day brunch.

Virtual Afternoon Tea Party

Call up her girlfriends, or mom and sisters and plan a Zoom meeting. Make it a happy hour by gifting her favorite wine or cocktail mix.

If alcohol isn't her thing, set up an afternoon tea party with friends and make her favorite tea and cookies.

Movie Night

Plan a movie night, mom's choice and either pick up some curbside carry out or make movie snacks for dinner. Homemade nachos, popcorn, and pretzel bites along with some veggies and dip make for an easy dinner. It may not be the heathiest choice, but it's a special occasion. And if you want to plan a movie night for your mother who doesn't live with you, there are a ton of great apps including Netflix Party where you can watch, talk, chat while watching the same movie together.

Go For A Hike

Many of the state parks are open again, so if the weather is nice, gather up the children and go hiking for a few hours. This can be with or without mom. We have all had a lot of quality time together and a house all to herself might be the best present of all. Keep in mind you will need Wisconsin State Park Pass in order to visit a state park. Passes can be obtained here.

Spa Day

Bring the spa experience home! One of the best parts of a massage or facial is the amazing products and aromas.

Products We Love:

Tips For Spa Amenities

  • Add fruit and herbs to a water pitcher
  • Dampen and warm hand towels & add essential oil drops
  • Hang eucalyptus leaves in your shower
  • Turn on a spa music playlist

(Ideas by Brookfield Esthetician & Massage Therapist, Jen.)

Kid’s Activities: Make Mom A Gift

Here are a few ways to create a few homemade gifts that mom will love, made by her favorite people: her kiddos.

Creative Sidewalk Greeting

This one is a fun idea for all ages. Try driveway painting with homemade chalk. This social media craft trend is the perfect way to give mom a “card” from a distance!

Items You’ll Need:

  • Corn starch
  • Water
  • Food coloring

Directions

Mix 2 tablespoons corn starch with 4 tablespoons cold water and then add the food coloring until you reach your desired color.

Repeat the steps for as many colors as you want to use.  You can put them in individual bowls or use a muffin tin and have all of your colors in one pan. Your kids will think you are so cool!

(Idea by Brookfield Hair Designer, Amanda.)

Aveda Lavender Slime

This will keep you and your kids relaxed and entertained. Brookfield Hair Designer, ShanaMarie’s daughter created this recipe. She said, "It made her hands feel SO smooth.” Finally, a recipe for 'clean' slime! It's always the most fun for the kiddos to mix, create and then of course, repeat!

Items You’ll Need:

  • 4 Tbsp of baking soda
  • 4 Tbsp ANY favorite soap—it can be hand soap, shampoo or even dish soap
  • 2 Tbsp Aveda Hand Relief
  • 6-8 drops of essential oil (we like lavender)

Directions

Use a large bowl or mason jars to mix together all of the ingredients. It will turn into a creamy paste! Cover it with a lid or foil to protect it from drying out. My kids love it and so do I!

DIY Lip Balm: Juicy Lips

ShanaMarie’s daughter also created this recipe, too. It’s so fun to make and it really does taste so juicy!

Items You’ll Need:

  • 3-4 Tbsp coconut oil
  • Non-toxic and clean crayon
  • Lime
  • Container for lip balm

Directions

In a saucepan melt 3-4 Tbsp coconut oil. *Optional— to add color, peel the wrapper off of your 'favorite' color crayon or whatever color you'd like your balm to be. If no crayon color is desired, it will dry white.

Make sure oil (and crayon) is melted to liquid, then squeeze two lime wedges in liquid. Gently, mix hot oil mixture and place in desired vessel and place into the refrigerator.

You can use anything to contain a liquid in until it hardens in the fridge. My girls like to be 'fancy' so they used a plastic teacup.

An hour later you have a perfectly set chapstick that is equally as moisturizing as it is tasty for dry, quarantined lips. ENJOY!

(Idea by Brookfield Hair Designer, ShanaMarie – and her 8 year old daughter!)

This year we might not be able to be physically close to our mothers on Mother's Day, but hopefully this list provided some useful ideas for how you can still show your mom just how much she means to you.

Spa Pros on the Benefits and Profit-Boosting Potential of Light Therapy

Posted: 06 May 2020 01:09 PM PDT

What types of light therapy do you use at your spa?

Desi McDermott, esthetician and licensed massage therapist, Salon Lujon & Day Spa in Fullerton, California: I've been using LED light therapy for the past 15 years, including the introduction of LightStim five years ago. The devices feature a newer technology with multiple wavelengths, including blue light to kill bacteria and help prevent future breakouts; amber light to rebuild collagen; and deep red, light red and infrared light to reduce inflammation and increase circulation, helping to relieve pain.

Leslie A. Crowell, international spa aesthetic department leader, educator, makeup artist and CIDESCO diplomat, Three-13 Salon, Spa & Boutique in Marietta, Georgia: Our estheticians like to use the Repêchage LED Radio Frequency and EMS Skin Tightening Machine. It has red, blue, green, yellow and pink lights, each of which affects the skin in different ways, including increasing the absorption of hydration and moisture; helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; temporarily firming, tightening and lifting the skin; minimizing dark spots and sun damage and improving dullness; and making skin look less oily.

Kasey Boone, owner and head esthetician, Glow Skincare in Toluca Lake, California: We use Celluma LED light therapy to treat fine lines, wrinkles, acne, and aches and pains. We love that we can use it to treat so many different concerns!

Victoria Nash, owner/clinical esthetician, Younger You Clinique in Scottsdale, Arizona: I use the Silhouet- Tone Soli-Lite machine on virtually all of my clients. I like that it offers a variety of wavelength settings, including blue, yellow, red and infrared light, so it can address both face and body concerns. The Soli-Lite significantly diminishes lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, and I also see excellent results treating rosacea and acne.

With body services, it reduces the appearance of stretch marks and enhances the results of cellulite treatments, as well as minimizing breakouts on areas like the back and shoulders.

How do these treatments complement your professional services?

Crowell: We offer Power Treatments, including LED light therapy (15 min./$23), which are enhancements guests can add to virtually any service. Also, our On the Go Facial (30 min./starting at $56) consists of a 15-minute pre-cleanse, serum and LED light treatment followed by the application of a moisturizer based on the individual's skin type and needs.

McDermott: I use the LightStim during massage treatments for pain relief. If clients complain about aches in their hands, knees, feet or anywhere on their body, I apply it to that area during a facial or waxing service. But my favorite way to incorporate LED light therapy is following any exfoliation or microdermabrasion treatment; I apply a sheet mask to the face and put clients under the LightStim ProPanel for 20 minutes. They really enjoy the warmth, relaxation and results. When they notice younger, glowing skin, they're eager to book their next appointment. A typical ProPanel session ranges from $50 to $70 for 20 minutes, depending on the other services purchased.

Nash: When I use the Soli-Lite, my clients leave with beautiful skin that rarely looks inflamed or red, even after treatments such as clinical depth microneedling and peels. Thanks to the rapid healing process provided by the LED therapy, they can go straight back to work or out for socializing. Many of my regulars also love that they can come in right after having Botox or fillers—the LED treatment helps diminish bruising and prolong the effects of the injectables.

Boone: We offer light therapy as an add-on (15 min./$10) to any treatment. It's also featured in services including our Clarifying Facial (75 min./starting at $149), which includes a deep cleanse, exfoliation, clarifying mask, cold roller massage and 30 minutes of LED to help further reduce acne and inflammation.

How do you promote light therapy?

Boone: We have an entire LED Bar where our clients can get complimentary light therapy with any service priced at $100 or more. Once they try it and see the results, they're hooked.

McDermott: We display flyers, and I show clients the ProPanel and how much my skin has improved from using it. I've also given treatments to staff so they can share their experience, and I offer a discount when guests purchase a package or series of treatments.

Crowell: While being prepped for a service, we give guests a detailed Power Treatment menu that includes information about the amazing benefits of LED light therapy. We educate them about how it can help achieve their desired results when we customize their facial treatments. We also have a Power Punch Card where guests receive a free Power Treatment after they've purchased three at full price.

Nash: I offer a complimentary first treatment, as I know clients will see an immediate improvement. From there, as with all of my treatments, I sell LED therapy in packages of 5 or 10 sessions. This saves them money and keeps them coming back.

NHBF working with Government to deliver ‘return to work’ guidelines

Posted: 06 May 2020 02:58 PM PDT

The National Hair & Beauty Federation is working with the Government to deliver guidelines for how the hair, beauty and barbering industries can safely return to work. These will be released in line with the Government 'roadmap' out of lockdown which is expected to be announced this week. However, the Government is not yet prepared to discuss the times when different industries will be allowed to re-open.

The NHBF is part of a number of working groups made up of trade bodies from a range of different industries. The NHBF has informed the government of industry-wide concerns based on recent survey findings.

This NHBF survey attracted almost 2000 responses from hair and beauty salons and barbershops. When asked what their biggest worry was about re-opening, 84% of respondents said they were concerned about how to maintain social distancing when working in close physical contact with clients.

Nearly three quarters (74%) were worried about what kind of personal protective equipment (PPE) would be needed, its cost and availability. Almost two thirds (64%) did not want to see business disrupted again by a second wave of coronavirus infections or a second lockdown period.

Hilary Hall, NHBF chief executive, said: "We have taken our survey findings to government at the highest levels, including a round table meeting with Alok Sharma, Secretary of State for Business, about the need for sector-specific guidance that everyone can rely on. These discussions are about how we can return to work safely, not when.  A key concern for Members is PPE, but until the government has issued advice on this important topic, we still cannot answer questions from Members about exactly what will be required."

For more information and FAQs, please visit www.nhbf.co.uk/coronavirus and follow the National Hair & Beauty Federation on social at @nhbfsocial.

Covid-19 Protection While Visiting Public Places

Posted: 06 May 2020 09:58 AM PDT

Written By Clyde Kincaid / Reviewed By Ray Spotts

Coronavirus infection has changed the world. Leaving a house is a real threat to one's health. Still, operating businesses are thinking about precautions. Among them such tools as sanitizers, regular disinfection, and sneeze guard glass. Employees wear gloves and masks.

Those who doubt the severe consequences may consider such measures unnecessary. This is quite a careless attitude. After all, we must think about others. Older people, for instance, have higher chances of a lethal outcome. The same can be said about those with a poor immune system.

Let's be honest. A human doesn't have to do much to stop contributing to the spread of this disease. They must practice social isolation. It means staying at home as much as possible. If someone needs to go out, following coronavirus precautions is a must.

Why Is It Vital To Follow Coronavirus Precautions?

The truth is that coronavirus is spreading fast. The number of cases has exceeded 3.4 million. Even though about one-third of those infected have recovered, the death rate isn't low. There have been more than 240,000 victims until now!

The terrifying fact is that the number of infected people has been drastically increasing. The reason for this may be dense physical contact. It's not a secret anymore that the main channel of virus transmission is from-person-to-person.

Skeptics may say that healthy people don't need to sacrifice their comfort. Well, this isn't relevant. Anyone can be a carrier agent. The worst thing is that those who don't show any symptoms aren't in the risk-free zone. Therefore, you never know where the bomb is hidden.

Although some countries claim to have an epidemic situation under control, the future is uncertain. There are many opinions that there will be another infection outbreak or even two. Even those who have recovered from the disease can't live worry-free.

Coronavirus replication may attack them, together with the lucky ones - those who didn't get sick. It means that precautionary measures are likely to become a part of our daily routines for quite some time.

Humans Aren't The Only Ones In The Danger Zone

Yes, you read it correctly. Though humans' interactions pose the greatest danger, it's not the only one. You can stumble upon the term "feline coronavirus" or "equine coronavirus." The former refers to cats, the latter to horses.

Basically, it means that animals can also suffer from this virus. This field still needs much research. Yet one fact is for sure - humans mustn't abandon animals to their fate.

How To Protect Yourself In Public Places

So, we've established the fact that physical contact is the most dangerous aspect of life at the moment. Now, it's time to figure out how to reduce the risks. It goes without saying that you have to follow such rules as:

  • Avoid close contact with the sick. If you take care of an infected person, you must wear at least a mask and gloves. A special suit is advisable.
  • Keep six feet distance from other people.
  • Cover sneezes and coughs.
  • Frequently disinfect hands, a phone, and other belongings that you use often. It's advisable to wash hands with soap properly once you are home.

As for public places, the best protection is staying away from them. However, if the need to go out is unavoidable, keep in mind that you must stay away from people. Like, literally. Mind the distance and avoid crowds. If you are sick or don't feel well, wearing a mask is a must. It's an effective tool to lower the risk of coronavirus spread.

Another vital aspect is disinfection. Bacteria remain on the surfaces for several hours. The most dangerous spots are doorknobs, handles, sinks, light switches, etc. Nonetheless, sanitize hands after touching them. Gloves are one more working idea.

Businesses have a big responsibility. They have to provide health security. Coronavirus precautions include:

  • Health security for employees. This includes special wear, if necessary, reduced physical contact, and sanitizers.
  • Physical distancing. This point applies to employee-employee and employee-customer interactions. The latter is vital. Many workers, for instance, cashiers, deal with hundreds of people daily. It's scary to think about the scope of the problem if they are sick. A working solution is sneeze guards that prevent virus cross-contamination.
  • Regular disinfection. This includes everything. With no exceptions. From handles to top-counters.

The most important thing to remember is that to prevent the spread of the virus, every person must make a contribution. Following the rules isn't hard. Please, share your experience in the comments. Is it difficult for you to adopt these new habits?
