How We’re Approaching Our Return to In-Person Services

Posted: 03 May 2020 08:01 AM PDT

As states around the country begin to reopen for business, Zeel, too, is cautiously approaching the reopening of in-person services like massage and assisted stretching. Our mission has always been to make vital health and wellness services accessible and seamless. Doing so with the utmost safety is our highest priority right now.

Several states have already opened, and as more follow suit, we want you to feel safe and comfortable booking an in-home service. You can read the health and safety guidelines below that we share with the thousands of therapists on the Zeel network. They are set in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines and directives surrounding the delivery of wellness services, as well as CDC recommendations and best-in-class spa and hospitality protocols.

Guidelines for providers in the Zeel network

  • Providers should wear masks/facial coverings and/or gloves during treatments as an enhanced safety measure.
  • Each day upon opening the Zeel app, the provider confirms he/she displays no symptoms of COVID-19 or other infectious illnesses.
  • Providers should follow the CDC guidelines on handwashing or using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content.
  • Providers are encouraged to take their temperature daily.
  • Providers should remove shoes upon entry.
  • Equipment should be carefully and thoroughly disinfected between every use.

We’re in this together.

As we’ve learned from these weeks of community cooperation in the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, it works best when we all participate. To help keep providers in the Zeel network—and everyone in your community—safe, we ask Zeel clients to:

  • Refrain from booking an in-home treatment if you or a household member have a fever, other COVID-19 symptoms, or a communicable illness
  • Refrain from booking an in-home treatment if you, or any member of your household, are under an isolation or quarantine order/directive
  • Use your own sheets on massage tables
  • Wear a face mask
  • Wash hands thoroughly prior to and after each treatment
  • Share any special sanitation or hygiene requests you have prior to the provider arriving at your home
  • You are welcome to share masks/gloves and no-contact thermometers with providers, should you wish to do so.

Helen Addis: The Titty Gritty

Posted: 02 May 2020 10:00 PM PDT

In this episode I'm joined by the wonderful Helen Addis. Helen, who is the Head of Features on The Lorraine Show and author of the amazing blog The Titty Gritty, found a lump in her breast in 2018 and a few weeks later was told that she had cancer and needed a mastectomy. Helen, who was planning a massive party for her 40th at the time, suddenly had to deal with a brand new reality.
This is Helen's story, all told with a brilliant sense of humour (she had me snorting with laughter) and such warmth. Helen, who is now cancer free is on a mission to get us to check our boobs but more than that, she wants to remind us that even though we are in the midst of a really scary virus, there is a another C out there and if you are worried about any symptoms you need to connect with your Dr as soon as you can.
This is an amazing episode full of great advice and I know you'll love getting to know Helen as much as I did.

I have a pulling pressure/pain in a specific spot when stretching my shoulders, does it mean I have a muscle knot?

Posted: 02 May 2020 10:26 AM PDT

The pain is located next to my shoulder blade edge and I only feel this pulling pain when I do a certain stretch. My masseuse has told me my shoulders are bad but I haven't been able to get a massage in a few months now. Does this pulling pain mean I have a knot? How can I massage it myself or stretch it out?

Here is an example of the location of the pulling pain and the stretch that I do: https://imgur.com/gallery/XPHByl6

FINALLY! Massage is allowed in Sydney and I went to a new, awesome Chinese masseur. But I have questions re Cupping and scraping

Posted: 02 May 2020 02:18 AM PDT

'Helen' was amazing, and omg, I felt like a cloud had lifted from me. Completely invigorated. Felt like running down the street! She did cupping and scraping - I've not had scraping before - and she certainly got to the spots that needed it and while I've got obvious haematomas - I'm wondering why on one side (the sorer side) it was so pronounced after the scraping; why some cupping site get more bruised than others; and what she meant - ie: what it means when cups get full of moisture. She's brilliant, but the language barrier meant that I couldnt ask her (and her next client waiting) and I want to know what I can do to help my body!
